Essay length

<p>At the top of form 3, it says:</p>

Please complete the essay, “Quick Takes,” short answer, and activity summary sections. These sections provide an opportunity for the Admissions
Committee to understand your personality and interests. We will evaluate your writing style, language usage and organization.
• All sections must be typed and double-spaced on paper you provide.
• Please affix one of your personal bar codes to each page. If you do not have a bar code, write your name and Social Security number on the top of
each page.

<p>Then, for the long essay, it says:</p>

Please write an essay, approximately 500-700 words (typically one page) in length on one of following topics."

<p>Do they want one page, double-spaced, with 500-700 words? I don’t see how that is possible. One page double-spaced is generally 250-300 words. I’ve written an essay of about 650 words, so should I submit it single-spaced on one page, or double-spaced on two?</p>

<p>Also, do they want the activity summary to be double-spaced? They don’t seem to ask for very much detail, so should I just have a comma-separated list like: Activity 1, Activity 2, Activity 3 (and explanation if its not obvious what it is), or should I include information like the hours, weeks, years I participated.</p>

<p>I’d double space when in doubt.</p>

<p>And I don’t think hours and weeks are that important, unless they are truly extraordinary, but years are good.</p>
