<p>Hi! I hear that many NYU students have more friends outside of their college than they have in classes. I am just curious how NYU students go about to get to meet other students at other universities in the city. Are there any specific bars/clubs/places students tend to gather around?</p>
<p>you’ll always meet people that go to SVA/cooper union/the new school/columbia/julliard/cuny/ect… at parties and the such. from what i’ve seen/expirienced you mostly make friends with the people in your dorm… at least that’s the way it is for me. i have two friends at columbia, two at julliard, one at cooper union, and one at SVA, and i hardly ever see them… mostly because you get wrapped up in your own lives and friends.</p>
<p>It all depends on what you’re going to be doing / where you go. For example, you’re probably not going to meet anybody who goes to other schools at the Starbucks on Astor place, but if you venture out to bars/clubs in areas that are closer to other universities and aren’t necessarily NYU “hot spots” you’ll probably meet people from other schools. Speaking from my own personal experience, I’m friends with many from Fordham b/c one of my friends from high school goes there and I sort of mingle with her friends. I also joined a sorority and we’re constantly mixing with greek organizations from other universities in the area, so I know other people. But in terms of having extremely close friends from other schools, it gets quite difficult.</p>
