<p>I have strong feelings about the topic of poaching across the globe. I wanted to do an essay on that. However, is that too "conservation and science"ish? I’m not sure if it’s really what they are looking for. Thoughts??? Help!</p>
<p>That could be a great essay. However, you’ll want to make sure you focus more on the international aspect of it than the environmental aspect. Relate whale poaching to Japanese culture, the ivory trade to West African culture, etc. Discuss the societal reasons behind poaching and how legislation can protect the animals while not blatantly disregarding the millennia-old cultures of these kinds of nations. The topic has great potential, but you need to make sure you’re proposing globally-minded and culturally sensitive solutions instead of just talking about how bad this is for the environment. Good luck! I remember how much I agonized over my Walsh essay as well. I’m sure it’ll be great, though.</p>
