<p>*I don’t want to mislead anybody, and this was for a different school two years ago, but I think Gibby might be wrong. When I applied Early Action to UChicago, I knew there was this conference coming on something like November 18, and that I’d win at least one award there. That update, which I couldn’t possibly finish before whenever their early-November deadline was, went in the file as soon as I was done. And that was fine, I was accepted. If you can’t finish your research paper because you are waiting on something that won’t be finished until after November 1, I’m sure they won’t penalize you for submitting it later. If you just need a bit of extra time, I’d try to submit it by the deadline.</p>
