<p>I have a few questions…</p>

<p>(I want to go to Princeton, but if you know if any knowledge of any of the ives, please respond)</p>

<p>1.) Does Princeton, or ivies for that matter, look more at your (UW) GPA and course rigor as opposed to (W) GPA and course rigor. If so, would it be best for me to drop my regular web design class (online) because even though I get an A in it, it brings down my (W) GPA because it is only weighted as a 4. </p>

<p>2.) Also, do the ivies just look at one’s cumulative GPA- that is, the average of all unweighted GPAs earned throughout high school- or all the GPAs…? </p>

<p>3.) I took a high school Algebra Honors class in the 8th grade, but I had no clue it would show up on my transcript, and I got a B in it. Do you think Princeton will care? It brings down my overall GPA…</p>

<p>No, all kidding aside - getting into Princeton is more than just your GPA. It also involves your ECs, reecs and essays. As far as question 1 and 2 is concerned, they will look at both UW and W, but place more emphasis on the UW GPA. You should not drop your online class because it is only out of 4.0. The only classes that will be weighted out of 5.0 will be IB or AP classes, and I am sure that not many people have only taken AP or IB classes during their high school career. Thus having a class weighted out of 4 does not hurt at all. Ivies do look at cumulative GPAs, just like any other college. As far as question 3, I do not know the answer, but if it shows up on your high school transcript maybe you can appeal the grade and have it removed as it was done prior to your high school entrance.</p>

<p>Ivies want to see this when it comes to your GPA and courseload. Excellent grades in the most difficult classes. So you will have a good UW/W GPA if you take the hardest classes and get all A’s.</p>

<p>Don’t get paranoid. Breathe. Get some chocolate, don’t do drugs and you will be fine. </p>

<p>They will not look at your Alg II 8th grade. UW will count for more because every school weighs courses differently.</p>
