high college GPA, low SAT

<p>So I just pulled a 3.7 at the University of Texas at Austin, which although its a state school I’m pretty sure its known for having pretty good academics… so I’m proud of myself, I know it’s not a 4.0. but it took alot of work! Problem is, I have a relatively low SAT score in my opinion (2050 new, 1310 old 730 v 580 m 740 w) … math is obviously my weakness.</p>

<p>I am very interested in transferring to Georgetown, who only looks at the verbal and math sections of the SAT. I was wondering if I still have a decent shot, considering my GPA. I am interested in political science and have an internship at the Texas Capitol next semester and I have some good recommendations coming my way too. </p>

<p>Just wondering if my low SAT scores from high school can come back and kick me even though I’m in college.</p>

<p>UT Austin is a very good school–you have a strong GPA. As for your SAT’s, I wouldn’t obsess over them if I were you (they are in no way horrible IMO). With strong ec’s and a well-rounded application, I don’t see why you wouldn’t have a good shot at Georgetown or anywhere else. Good luck!</p>

<p>The impact of your SAT scores is inversely related to your time spent in college. If you’ve only been at UT for a year, they will still hold some weight, but not as much as your college GPA and courseload. If you’ve been at UT for two years, don’t worry about them at all.</p>
