Hi. Do Colleges require History in high school. I will not have History or Geography in 4 years of High School.

Will this be a problem?

Are you in high school in the US? In most school districts one year of American History, one year of World History, and one year of US Government are required for graduation.

If you are studying in a different country, following that country’s specific graduation requirements is what is expected.

You can look at each school’s common data set for academic requirements/recommendations. Here’s an example: http://web.wm.edu/ir/CDS/cds_part_c_0809.pdf Section C5 of each data set will list the required or recommended years in each discipline. Most schools will include history as a social studies course. You can probably also find this info in most colleges’ admissions department webpages.

There’s a very helpful link of different schools’ common data sets stickied in the College Search forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/76444-links-common-data-sets-posted-colleges.html
