Just got deferred from Boston College, what colleges should I add?

Class Rank: 16/181</p>

<p>Toughest Course Load–senior year schedule (AP Bio, AP Gov, AP French, AP Calc, AP English Language)</p>

<p>AP: US History (5), English Lit & Comp (5)</p>

<p>SATI: CR: 800, Math: 720, Writing: 610
CR: 780, Math: 690, Writing: 690 (kind of worried about going down the second time around in cr and math)</p>

<p>SAT II: Lit, 780, Math IC, 730, US History 790</p>

<p>Extracurriculars–probably below average=about 6 clubs, marching band (really time-consuming like 25 hrs a week and section leader), piano for 12 years (some small awards), Camp counselor, Taught English in Taiwanese elementary school over the summer, pit/stage band (for the school musicale), about 700+ hours of community service with church, etc. </p>

<p>I don’t really want to end up at Rutgers (just because). I’d like a college that has access to the city and the suburban areas (I grew up in the suburbs of NYC). I’m declaring English as my major but I might switch to business later on. I would love to go to University of Illinois so if I could get in there, I wouldn’t be unhappy. Do you think I have a good chance? And should I add more colleges to my list since I got deferred from BC (where I thought I had a good chance at).</p>

<p>Im really surprised you didn’t get into BC. BC sucks anyways, dont worry to much about it.</p>

<p>Maybe add Colgate, Bowdoin, NYU?</p>

<p>And maybe you should consider NYU and USC and U of Wisc. </p>

<p>You also might want to consider adding some slight reach / reach scores and removing some match schools (cause you already have alot…). Your scores are good enough to try schools like Duke, Northwestern, WashU, Columbia, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, Chicago…</p>

<p>Also, your list includes little/no reaches. With your scores you could aim for some higher colleges</p>

<p>I think I got deferred cause I’m a female from New Jersey, which is overrepresented at BC. </p>

<p>I was thinking of the top 4 as reaches and the rest as matches. My guidance counselor told me to apply for Columbia just for fun but now I’m too scared to, since even BC deferred me. My paranoia seems to be merited now.</p>

<p>What the heck is wrong with BC…my guess is that you didn’t show enough interest in the school? And yeah…tons and tons of people are applying from my Northern New Jersey school…</p>

<p>Seriously, go look at U.S. News and pick some top 20 colleges. </p>

<p>Northwestern, Notre Dame, U-Chicago are really nice if you like good business schools in the Midwest.</p>

<p>I agree that I probably didn’t show interest in BC (actually I didn’t show any at all but I know a lot of people who go there), but in the end it says that there’s probably something really weak on my app (my transcript’s really bipolar–I almost never get Bs but I have gotten a C+ or a C in math every year) so I think that’s why. I probably shouldn’t be this disappointed. It’s not a rejection; it is just that I expected to get accepted.</p>
