My GPA and getting into a Graduate school

<p>I got a 3.4 GPA my Freshman year at Dalhousie University in Canada. I was studying music (Bmus) and over the course of the year decided that it wasn't for me. I'm Switching my major in the fall and starting a Bachelor of Art degree. I'm very interested in attending grad school at one of the top end private institutes in the states for and am just wondering if my first year GPA has already ruined my chances. </p>
