New York City vs. Rest of New York

Hey, I was wondering if top universities group all applicants from New York State into one group or separate the city from the rest of the state. I'm wondering because I'm from the rural Southern Tier of New York and we don't have many of the opportunities that people in the city would have. I think it would be unfair to group the two regions together regarding admissions.

From the point of view of opportunities -- I'm pretty sure that they understand that Elmira isn't NYC. From the point of view of geographical diversity -- shrugs shoulders, I dunno.

Thanks a lot! But I still am wondering about it from a geographical diversity standpoint.

From geographical diversity, East Coast is East Coast.

East Coast may be East Coast, but Rural still is Rural. The admissions officers will see the information about your school district when they read the paperwork submitted by your counselor. Don't worry about this one. They know full well that the Southern Tier is not NY City.

Alright, thank you so much!
