<p>Last year, a couple of months before he graduated from Northwestern, Matt Muckey was appointed Associate Principal Trumpet of the N. Y. Philharmonic. This year, just six months after he graduated from Northwestern, Ethan Bensdorf was appointed 2nd Trumpet of the N.Y. Philharmonic. NWU must be a great place to study trumpet.</p>
<p>It is by reputation the very best place to study trumpet in the US, or so my trumpeter friends say.</p>
<p>Northwestern has terrific trumpet teachers, according to my trumpet playing son. They are producing, as you see yourself, some of the best players in the nation.</p>
<p>Wow, I had no idea Ethan got into the Phil too! Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer are arguably the best trumpet teachers out there…but they also accept the best trumpet players out there…so it’s a killer combo.</p>
