Out-of-state academic scholarships?

What are the odds of an out-of-state student (that vastly exceeds the school's averages as far as scores go) getting an academic/merit scholarship? Due to family income, I will not qualify for need-based, but yet places like Eckerd (at 25k+/year) are too expensive.

Basically the three colleges I'd be look at scholarships for is Eckerd, T A&M Galveston, and Colorado School of Mines.

thanks!

Hmm, well, I just noticed that there's a Scholarships forum. So maybe a moderator could move this?

thanks again :D

Eckerd is private, so state residency won't be required for most scholarships.
