terinzak–congrats!!! I didn’t think you could submit the FAFSA today. I guess I will be doing that later! Trade EFC’s with you :D.

Steve - oh no! Not a doctor here, but call early and talk to them. Is she just nervous? Probably not? Fever? I know they ask everyone before surgery if they are well/feeling sick. Hopefully it was a one time thing and no more :(

I am guessing she had some bad seafood last night. She felt fine yesterday, doesn’t seem to have a fever. She went back to sleep. I’m on hold with the answering service right now. Hopefully we can play it by ear today and see if it was a one time thing. She has had this same surgery before so I don’t think it is nerves–and she woke up from a dead sleep to throw up. Heard back from the on-call. He is going to email our dr and see what she wants to do.

I also just submitted the FAFSA. Had no idea what to put for taxes though. We made a little less than last year so I lowered the taxes a little bit. Guess I should have raised them (didn’t know about losing that $1000 since my son is 17).

Unfortunately our estimated EFC came out to 24,276!!!

^^did you get a pay stub from work? That will have your taxes paid on there.

Happy New Year, fellow comrades! We have quite the year ahead of us. May our kids be lucky and their parents be strong!

Re: Landslide song. When I was a sophomore in college, my future Dh and I were just beginning to be interested in each other. I had a little study carrel at Vandy that I would sneak into (it was awesome- a little room with a lockable door, totally private, with a desk etc- I discovered it one day and rigged the door!) and study. Well, my Dh to be made me a “Mix tape” and snuck it into one of the desk drawers for me to discover. That was one of the songs on it. I had never heard it before and just fell in love with it… and him!

Steve- So sorry that your D was sick last night. Ugh! Maybe too much yummy food and celebrating?

I have no idea wt& you guys are talking about with the puffing and so forth. I am tapping on scales for folks with single green squares though!

We’ll do the FAFSA sometime this week. Our EFC, according to the CSS, is absolutely insane. We are filling it out anyway but there is NO financial aid money coming to us, no way, no how.

So when I click on the scale and give someone a rep and leave a little comment, do you get to see the comment? If not, what’s the point?

Well tap me, darnit! ;)

I love Landslide too.

So I better get looking at the fafsa stuff, but have no expectations other than a stafford loan.

megpmom - what a fantastic story! Isn’t it fun to watch them? Doing whatever they do well.

Congrats on being done, GreekMana!

my3gr8boyz - can I join your “woe is me” club? I’m even sick of hearing myself freak out but that doesn’t seem to stop me… :(

blueshoe - I was reading this on my phone last night and saw your Stevie Nicks post and started crying. I kept pulling it back up all night…

Walker - you go girl! And definitely don’t put puff tapping on the apps. It’s clearly an activity that requires experience and maturity!

Congrats Sop14 and lacrossemom!

I love puff tapping! Unfortunately I can’t for a few more hours…

Dragonflygarden - that is exactly how I feel!

Oh SteveMA, that sucks. Hope she feels better!

Wow terinzak - I’m not worthy!

vandygrad - if you go to your Control Panel, you can see the last 5 comments, but you have to put your SN in the comment or you can’t tell who left the comment. After 5 it rolls over, so you have to check every so often. Also, if you click on your own scale on the same post you can see the comment, but there’s no way to know which ones have comments.

SteveMA - I thought it was taxes paid on your 1040 line 61? No?

And I forgot to say: Happy New Year everyone! MTOBEIOF - and may 2013 be even better than 2012!

Well heck. My new years resolutions were losing weight, being more financially frugal, keeping the house cleaner, etc. instead I have decided to tap as many puffs here as possible. There will be no lonely people in corners in 2013!!
So, who has kids who aren’t done with apps?
D is done.
How long until I make S14 start? :D

Happy 2013 everyone! Looks like both of my kids got home from their respective parties in one piece! I did not stay up to wait for them (still nursing cold) but I see the car in the driveway and S2’s coat on the entryway floor. I was so proud of D1 last night. She volunteered to be the designated driver for her friends (she’s over 21). Of course we still gave her the lecture - “if you decide to drink, call us or spend the night” - and instructions on what to do at a police stop - hands on the wheel, don’t talk back, be polite. I’m always more worried about other drivers than her.

S2 went to his BFFs house about 2 miles away and rode with a friend. He runs with such a goody-two-shoes crowd and I know the parents very well - so I didn’t have to worry about him. Except that he wore shorts and flip-flop and it was 30 degrees here. Can’t take the Texas out of the boy, I guess.

I’m not doing FAFSA anytime soon, just before the March 1 deadline. S2’s schools wait until the deadline to look at any applications, so there is no benefit to doing it early. I will just be curious to see what our EFC ends up being with 2 kids in college.

If anyone is United Methodist, there is a new loan program for students (must be a UMC member for at least one year). They can borrow up to $5000 a year for 3.75%. The catch is that payback starts after 90 days at $50 a month. We’re going to have both kids take out the full amount next year, in addition to the subsidized Stafford. Fingers crossed that that will be all the loans we need. Also hoping that S2 gets a work-study job!

Happy Happy 2013! May you all have health, happiness and desired results this year.

Love the puffing, green boxes, etc. Makes me smile…

H gave me (us) tickets to Book of Mormon in Chicago. Can’t wait to go (tickets are for February). After reading posts, glad that he decided on 2 rather than 5 tickets (too expensive) - we’re leaving the 17, 16 & 13 year old children at home. They are sad but now I don’t have to sit next to one of them during the performance!

Happy New Year, everyone!

Steve, I hope she’s okay now! Let us know what the doctor says about the surgery.

Mommydearest13: I tapped you with some green!!!

SteveMA: I hope everything works out OK!

ConfusedMominMA–I thought it was line 55…oh well, we sent the “will file” version and can correct if necessary down the road.

I’ve tapped some single boxers :D.

You can see your last 5 taps under the “my control panel” at the top of each page.

SteveMA: Hope you’re right about the food and that your D is feeling better so the surgery doesn’t have to be rescheduled. Sending positive thoughts your way!

Thanks everyone - I “shared the love” back! LOL

Happy New Year!

I’m still in my pjs, but I’ve got a roast going in the crockpot. :)

SteveMA, oh no! How is she doing now? The biggest hurdle to surgery will be the anesthesiologist. If there’s any chance of aspiration, they’re going to postpone. I’m hoping that they’ll wait and see how she’s doing today.

I have to deal with the FAFSA - I think I’ll get paid tomorrow and I’ll use that.

2013! Yep, it definitely feels very real now that we’re here!

Resolutions? I don’t usually make them, but I actually have a few “unofficial” ones. First, to try and get more organized.
And second, to try and get myself ready for an empty nest!

Have a great day everyone, and a wonderful, healthy, happy new year!

Sounds like the surgery is going to be rescheduled. The oncall dr said he would email our Dr and I’m hoping she will call later to check to see how she is doing. She said she feels better, doesn’t have a fever, has only had that one episode–5 hours later now. Her surgery is scheduled for noon tomorrow so we still have over 24 hours. I’m just hoping they can get it scheduled for Thursday or Friday if she can’t do it tomorrow. She is going to miss enough school as it is and can’t really go back to school until she has the surgery.
