PLEASE CHANCE ME, I'm going crazy. Strange Grades!

I’m apologize for the length, but I really want accurate answers. Please chance me. Thank you all!

Hello. My grades have been really weird. I moved cities from middle school to High school and I had great difficulity at first adjusting myself and I started off with terrible grades but slowly improved. I had a lot of family problems before I moved and settled down. I explained this in my essay. Please chance me for my schools. I applied for mechanical engineering/engineering undeclared (if optional) for all schools.
Schools: Undergrad
UC Berkeley
UCLA
USC
UCSB
UCDavis
Carnegie Mellon University
Heres some major reaches (all crapshoots just for the hell of it, I know it’s ridiculous I even applied. My mom wanted me to at least give it a shot.):
Stanford
UPenn
Harvard
Cornell
Harvey Mudd College
Princeton

Stats: 9-12 GPA: 4.06W 3.63UW / 10-12 GPA 4.36W 3.73UW (no school ranking in school)
School: pretty competitive. Half of the students that go to Berkeley from our county come from our school alone. I think more than a dozen people get accepted to each ivy so going to UCLA/Berkeley is actually a “not a big deal at all” school. Located in So. CA

9th: umm. I just know the GPA sucks.

AP Physics C: A/A
AP Comp Sci: A/A
AP US Gov: A/A
Adv Vid Film (had to take to grad.): A/A

SAT: 1970 math:710 Writing: 670 Reading: 590 :frowning:
ACT: 30 comp math:35 Eng/Wri: 32 Reading: 26 Sci: 27 essay: 11<- my math and eng/writing ACT scores are both 99th percentile. Will colleges think that I’m just a slow reader? I know english sections has like 45 percent reading comprehension so its not just grammar. And I’m going to be engineer so wont my math score be more important? If they only care about composite then oh well, 30 isn’t too bad is it?
SATII: Math IIC: 780
Japanese: 800

Awards: Ap Scholar with Honor
National Merit Commended: (Don’t ask me how. It was a fluke. I suck at real SAT)

Tennis community lessons: 9th/10th: 2 hrs a week 36 weeks
I had other stuff that were B/S hours and I didn’t want to sound like I was undedicated so I just put my favorite ones.

Please tell me my chances. I just want to know what everyone else thinks. Would colleges care about my sudden improvement? I know UC won’t see my senior year grades for admissions and I am glad, but Common apps will and Im scared. I think my two B’s especially my AP Calc grade will ruin everything. I just want peoples opinions, because I don’t think my grades are stable, and my test scores are not good enough at all.

im really hoping you guys give me thoughtful answers. I appreciate everyones time and help!

edited stuff i said on first post.
Conclusion: Please tell me my chances for the colleges i applied to. I just want to know what everyone else thinks. Would colleges care about my sudden improvement or just gpa? I know UC won’t see my senior year grades for admissions and I am glad, but Common apps will and Im scared. I think my two B’s sudden downcurve from a 5.0 last semester and especially my AP Calc grade will ruin everything. Or will only GPA matter, because then my gpa will only go up and look better. I just want peoples opinions, because I don’t think my grades are stable, and my test scores are not good enough at all. And is a 30 composite good enough for cornell, Berkeley, UCLA, and carnegie as in, it wont get me in but wont kick me out, and my admittance will depend on my essay and e/c?

Wow, you definitely need to cut yourself some slack - your stats aren’t that bad.
All colleges like seeing upward trends, so that works in your favor. 2 B’s isn’t that big of a deal. GPA matters more than what you got in a single class. 30 composite isn’t great, but it definitely puts you in the ballpark. My friend got a 31 composite and got into cornell CAS which is the hardest school to get into, but his GPA was very solid and he had great extra-currics. As far as essays, from what I’ve heard Berkeley and UCLA don’t look at them too much but you’re in-state which will definitely help you. Carnegie and cornell will look at your essays and e/c’s a lot more.

UC Berkeley - high match
UCLA - match
USC - high match
UCSB - safety
UCDavis - match
Carnegie Mellon University - reach
Stanford - high reach
UPenn - high reach
Harvard - high reach
Cornell - reach
Harvey Mudd College - reach
Princeton - high reach

You’re better off than you think, but don’t rely too much on acceptances for those Ivy league schools other than cornell. Nevertheless, you have good stats and I’m sure you’ll get into a fair share of the schools you’ve applied to. Good luck.

i agree w/ guruofgreatness; there are a few weak spots in your app if you’re applying to ivies, sure, but you’ve still got great stats.

idk about the UCs, so here’s what i think for everything else:
Carnegie Mellon University - match
Stanford - high reach
UPenn - reach
Harvard - high reach
Cornell - reach
Harvey Mudd College - low reach
Princeton - high reach

and since the UCs have such a range of selectivity, i’m sure you have great chances at many of them, and fine chances at all of them. your grades seem fine to me, and your ECs look great. your CR SAT score may hurt you a bit but i think your other strong points will make up for it. good luck! :)

wow ur almost identical to me…

my grades were bad first 3 semesters of high school. Going 3.4, 3.8 3.5. Then going 4.3 4.6 4.6 Almost the same unweighted to

My act score is the same as u. 30.25 one from a 31 hahah.

And i also had family problems in the beginning of hs.

But i think our stats our competitive for the top UCs.

Wow thanks guys. That made me feel more reassured. My councelor told me to apply to uc santa cruz for safety cuz she said my grades and sat suck basically, but i think i trust you guys more. Thanks guys! I wont have to worry any more.
