Pre-Med Success @ Wash U, Pomona or Amherst

I was wondering which school out of Wash U, Pomona or Amherst has the most succes getting their undergrads into med school. I've heard that while Wash U has a great med school their pre med classes are major grade deflators and make it extremely difficult for its students to be accepted. Any Opinions would be great.

Undergraduates from all three institutions enjoy near-perfect success in medical school admission, and you’re not going to have an easy time at any of the three.

per this website: [National Trends in Grade Inflation, American Colleges and Universities](

WashU ave. gpa is 3.4, while both Amherst and Pomona are 3.5

That is close enough that I think the more important consideration is the degree to which the school provides the sorts of research participation and pre-med advising that are likely to end in a successful placement into a med school.

My hunch is they’re all about identical.

Other strong pre-med programs at Duke, Hopkins, Holy Cross, and Tufts.
