Prospective Majors

Im in LSA, and i hope to do cellular and molecular biology and biomdeical engineering. anyone else planning on this same major? if not, what majors do you guys hope to do?

I’m in LSA as well and planning to major in English at this point. People often cringe when I say that but literature and writing really are my passions. I can see myself becoming a journalist, college professor, and/or book editor (who writes bad poetry on the side).

got into lsa, hoping for business pre-admit otherwise, biology i guess…

Im in CoE; not really sure what I want to do yet…but im leaning towards a Engineering/Buisiness degree thing…

I got into LSA, prepharmacy and preferred admit to Pharmacy college, Asian Studies…and then if not pharmacy, then Biology :)

I got into LSA undeclared, and am strongly leaning towards something related to Communications.

lisac: i noticed that you were originally deferred and then admitted. i’m interested in going into pharmacy but was too afraid to do the preferred admit because i heard only a very small percent actually get it and i would be happy just getting admitted, let alone preferred admit. and now i’m thinking i won’t be accepted. i have around a 3.9 umich gpa, good ecs, but i only got a 28 on my acts (which i did not retake due to my counselor strongly advising me that i had no need to, which i highly regret listening to him now.) I don’t know why I am typing all of this out, but anyways… i’m pretty freaked out and was just wonder what your stats were and is it true that you really got preferred admit to the pharmacy program?

brenna.b-Yep, originally deferred…only a week ago I was telling people I would be a Spartan, lol. Sorry for being unclear, but I have preferred admit waiting on the Pharmacy College (but I don’t think anyone has heard back yet regarding the preferred admit thing since that’s always something separate from the undergrad college admissions, so it won’t affect your admission :D) I doubt I’ll get into the preferred admit program…which would be amazing because the Pharmacy College itself after two years of undergrad I heard it is quite hard to get into. But o’well, it was worth a shot, right?

You’re stats look good. Here are mine…kind of embarrassed, but Michigan had to see something with my app to accept me, heheh:

ACT: 27
GPA UW: 3.556 and perhaps a 3.6-7ish Umich…didn’t bother to really calculate myself
ECs: okay, a lot of community volunteer hours, part-time job at public library, a student advisor on a women empowering the community board, and uh…again community service? lol
RECs: I think my teacher and counselor were really proud of their letters they wrote for me, hahah…my science teacher for 2 years wanted to read it to me over the phone! but I stopped her.
ESSAYs: didn’t have teachers go over (probably would have helped), but I went over them like a billion times before I actually sent them with my app
APP COMPLETED: 10/17
DEFERRED: 11/22
ACCEPTED: 12/15

I’m a female, in-state, and my counselor said that my school is pretty decently ranked in Michigan…right…

From following the board here, Michigan places GPA on higher regards than the ACT? So your GPA is uber awesome, and the ACT is about in the ball park. You’ll definitely be fine. Don’t stress out too much, I know that feeling. And right now I can’t say how relieved I am to be able to just learn at school without worrying about grades  Beside Michigan would be silly NOT to accept you…because it’s still early, and they accepted me?

Ah!!! You’re my competition for a spot at the Pharmacy College…heheh, Good Luck and enjoy the last year of high school!!

Hope I didn’t rant too much.

I intend to major in English but take premed requisites as electives and apply to medical schools.

If being a doctor doesn’t pan out, I’d like to go into something journalism related, so that’s the best plan I could figure out.

I also plan to continue my yearbooknerd-dom into college. It pays. Literally.

My tentative plan is to major in English and Philosophy, or major in Philosophy with a minor in English. Then, tentatively, I’d be off to some sort of law school, hopefully well prepared.

I got into LSA and intend to hit the Computer Science road. Anyone with me on this one?

I’m leaning toward PoliSci with a minor in…probably Englsih because I’m assuming I’ll head off to some law school. However…I’d rather minor in Public Policy or some other Social Science…I could always just take certain courses. I’m really not sure.

Got into LSA…probably gonna take Economics or Mathematics.
