<p>Average stats my @$$, % accepted my @$$, UF has a MUCH higher quality student body. No matter what they say, anyone who breathes gets into Miami from my school and i've seen it done. % accepted? That says nothing. Anyone can apply.</p>
<p>Link for the endowment? Everything i've seen shows UF being easily #1 in FL</p>
<p>"UF has a much higher quality student body"
"everyone that breathes gets into Miami at my school"
1. show me STATs that prove otherwise! UM has an average gpa of 4.2 and sat score ranges exactly the same as UF. I dont see the difference. but please show me a "link" or a stats to prove otherwise.
2. thats just ur school and again show me stats to prove me otherwise that the student body is better at UF than at UM. im not saying UM has a better student body but not worst either.
I got stats to prove its even more selective.</p>
<p>look at the bottom:
Middle 50%:
High School GPA of 3.9 - 4.4
SAT of 1220 - 1390
ACT of 26 - 31 </p>
<p>Same as UM.. Im curious as to where u get this idea Lobos.
You need to get ur facts straight and not generalize. ur school's student body fortunately dosnt represent that of UM.</p>
<p>It is true that UM raised 1.25 billion over a 8 year period (hense this is partially why UM rose from 66th to 54th, also that money doesn't just go towards endowment, but also construction, endowed chairs, etc...). Their fundraising campaign actually has just came to a conclusion. So do not be superised to see if UM eventually starts slipping overall. I think the 2007 Rankings showed that UM has leveled off, and will only be able to inch up a couple spots a year, if that.</p>
<p>Ok so I have noticed few ppl have been talking facts, rather most have been talking opinions and generalizations.
So i took the liberty to investigate for myself and got facts about each of the 3 schools most often mentioned here. FAU GUY sorry FAU isnt in but nice try adding it as the top 3 in Florida. Here are some facts about each school that represent endowment, selectvity, grad rate, retention etc.. all from their own school's websites, wikipedia, and US news for endowments. anyways u be the judge. from the info I gathered here is what I feel:
UF: is the best but not because its harder to get in, stats prove it is not the hardest in Florida to get in. However its better because of the higher endowment, grad rate, retention rate and high selectivity
UM: is trailing in second place. Facts show that UM is highly selective as it has the lowest acceptance rate in Florida and its SAT score ranges and GPa are similar to #1 UF. Finally considering its skyrocketing endowment, high selectivty, and US News rankings in comaprison with UF, UM is very close to UF. Also its worth noting UM dosnt even have 100 years since its establishment and thus has made remarkable accomplishments.
FSU: its third. Clearly there isnt much debate over this one. the stats are way different from thos eof UF and UM. </p>
<p>UM is much much better than FSU. They just raised a billion dollars from alumni. plus they have much better med school, law school, etc. UF probably edges UM by a little though - better student body, more resources, less $$$</p>
<p>Im not portraying any image of any school. wether it be UF, FSU and UM.
The image portrayed earlier is the image being portrayed by US News, Princeton Review and the own school's websites of FSU, UM and UF. They are all purely facts. </p>
<p>I would rather believe an image derived from facts than an image derived from opinions.
Can u provide any facts that show a different image lobos? not just about UM but of FSU as well as I believe u said FSU was better than UM.</p>
<p>Good question parent2noles. I find it odd that the CDS is so hard to locate for U Miami...makes you wonder if you can trust any data that is being reported for them.</p>
<p>its so hard to find because UM dosnt fill out a common Data Set survey annualy. Dosnt mean their corrupt and lying bout their stats. One could still easily lie on a CDS at any school and that would still be published. The publishers of the Common Data Set trust the word of the university. they dont audit them on their numbers.
Eitherway, UM does fill out other surveys: examples; US News which sends out surverys annually to colleges and the stats u see there are not identical to those online but still very similar.</p>
