Strong Academics and Greek Scene

What are some schools that have both strong academics (Undeclared major) and a strong Greek Scene?

This college you are looking for is Duke… trust me here.
There are also Dartmouth, NU, and Vanderbilt.

Anyone else?

Maybe a LAC?

LAC –> Colgate

Colgate, Washington and Lee, Lehigh. case closed.

According to data from collegeboard.com, the following are the top National Universities and top LACs with fraternities and sororities:

The first school tha came to mind was Wake Forest.

Yale, Princeton and Harvard all have Greeks as well.

Yeah, but none of the Ivies, with the exception of Dartmouth have anything that would be considered a “strong” Greek Scene. And I wouldn’t look at how many people are in a Greek chapter as necessarily an indicator of the strength of the Greek system at that school.

VANDERBILT, Wake Forest, Emory, Georgia Tech, UT-Austin, UFlorida, UNC-Chapel Hill, Missouri-Columbia, Washington & Lee, and Indiana-Bloomington are probably your best bets for schools that have really strong Greek Systems with academics to get typical members of College Confidential excited (Depending on what field you’re looking to go into).

For the most part, your strongest Greek Schools are going to be SEC schools and Big 12 schools. SEC schools have the much stronger traditions and societal value placed on Greek membership - esp at places like 'Bama, Ole Miss, and UGA. Many of the Big 12 schools - Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas State - have really successful, high-achieving Greek Systems. But certainly the academics aren’t at the same level of the schools I listed above.

Northwestern and Dartmouth for sure

CoolaTroop is a Duke ■■■■■.

Strong academics and Greek Scene- Dartmouth- No question about it.

The first schools that came to mind were MIT and Duke. However for an undeclared I dont think MIT is worth it.

so Duke works.

Dartmouth and Duke for sure.

Washington and Lee and DePauw are dominated by Greek culture, for better or worse, with virtually the whole student body joining frats/srats. This also means that there is pretty much a frat/srat to fit most students’ tastes at each place.

As a side note, the major Catholic schools (Georgetown, ND, BC, Holy Cross, etc.) all appear to have no Greek scene whatsoever. Does anyone know if there some sort of historical connection with this, either the colleges prohibiting it or Catholics not being welcome in the old “WASPy” clubs?

Cornell is very fratty
