top10% vs top12%

ok simple question how big difference is there between top10% and top12%

there are 450 kids in my class..

The difference is 2% with 9 students. Do you see how I got that? Difference means "subtraction." So...

12% - 10% = 2%.

To find the number of students, just multiply the percentage with the number of students:

.02 x 450 = 9.

As far as I know, colleges like to post top10% stats so difference between 10.5% and 10% is pretty big.

oh PLEASE!

Before USNWR, I would say it was basically a nonexistent difference. I don't know to what degree colleges try to be cognizant of they can add in student profile for USNWR purposes. If you believe "The Gatekeepers", it's a lot.

If you go to a very competitive that send a lot of kids to top schools it's no big deal.
