<p>Im currently a freshman at UC Irvine ( I know, this seems early) but I really do not like it here. I know I cant transfer to another UC till at least the end of sophmore year, so I was wondering what my other choices are. Id prefer something in northern california, I just cannot stand the weather here.</p>

Are you looking for milder weather like the bay? there are a few choices in the area like, U of SF, csus, sf or hayward(has a different name now), U of Pacific… if you could stand living in stockton…</p>
<p>it is not impossible to transfer from one UC to another. Since you’re a freshman, just blaze your classes and transfer to Berkeley. Just make sure you are not applying to Haas. I would also consider UCSC.</p>
<p>To be honest, if I COULD transfer to UCLA id do that too (just becuase its so strong academically) but Berkeley would be ideal</p>

<p>that is actually your best shot. They give preference to cc applicants and then other UC applicants. Yes your chances would be best if you were a Junior, but you never know, send an application every year…</p>

<p>Those are the stats. If I were you, I would either stay at UCI and continue film studies or goto UCLA for something else. I am not saying you wouldn’t get in, but 15 out of 421 is pretty competitive. Haas is not even this discouraging when it comes to admissions statistics. Best of luck.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t be able to direct you, but at least you have an idea as to what you want. Maybe a Comp Sci degree with a minor in management? You get computers and you can take some marketing courses in the management minor? I believe people should just do what comes natural or what they truly love.</p>
<p>The thing is, I love the hardware side of computers more as a hobby, and I love doing graphic design and such on computers, but im not huge on actual programming. I wouldnt major in it, maybe a minor.</p>

<p>i’ve never understood uc’s on some things. number one: they give preference to ccc. number two: taking too much units might result in ur failure to graduate.</p>
<p>i really don’t like the idea of uc’s (transferring) giving preference to certain characteristics of a individual stat than to their achievements. for example, uc;a give the highest preference to someone from ccc with tap completed, igetc and major requirement completed. now if that person is to apply for an un-impacted majors like art history (which i heard somewhere that it accepts 60 per cent), then that person’s admission is virtually GUARANTEED. uc’s don’t looka t hs stuff or the sat. this is so frustrating for me because in addition to tap,igetc, major requirements, 4.0, un-impacted major i want to make it clear to uc’s that i am really serious about any learning in any given situtation. my luck is running out of fuel all the luck of happening to be part of tap, and all my ap’s satisfying igetc, completing major requirements in one semestre, and transferring in one year are not giving me a sense of worth. i’d be more confident if i had achieved through hard work. even though, my chances are superb for ucla and even berkeley for one year transfer, i want to start building my true worth through some original ideas.
i feel a big difference between uc freshman admission and transfer admission. the transfer is WAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOOO picky. man this is really getting annoying. </p>
<p>anyway, why don’t u ask ur counselor if u can transfer in one year? that’s what i’m doing. now if ur taking three classes right now, then forget about it (unless u have a whole bunch of ap credit). even four classes in one semestre is pretty low for someone transferring with onely two semestre’s work. if i get rejected to ucla for any reason, i will still have the satisfaction of being one year ahead of some people at the safety uc i go to.</p>
<p>One of my classes is humanities core, and I also have a seminar, so its not literally like 2 classes. I plan on taking 3 + a seminar next quarter.</p>
