<p>OK, so there are the three UC eligibility routes: Eligibility in the Statewide Context, Eligibility in the Local Context, and Eligibility by Examination Alone. And if you get any of these eligibility requirements, you get a letter home saying that you’ve met the requirements.</p>

<p>The problem is, I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA, I’m ranked 15 in my class, but I’ve never received a letter for Eligibility in the Statewide Context. What the heck is going on? Does this mean I’m not eligible for UC or something?</p>

<p>Eligibility in the Statewide Context is only checked once you turn in your app by the admissions office. You don’t get any letters about it. This context includes senior year classes and grades to finish out the mandatory classes that UCs require.</p>

<p>Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) is the only one where you will get a letter as that guarantees a bottom tier UC if you fulfill the mandatory classes in HS for UCs and take the SAT/ACT and 2 SAT IIs for the minimum required score needed by UC.</p>
