UF tempts Sister Hazel with Homecoming gig

<p>GATOR GROWL MAY SIGN WITH HOMEGROWN BAND.</p>

<p>UF officials are trying to bring a Sister Hazel homecoming to UF's own Homecoming weekend. </p>

<p>Krista Mettler, publicist for the Gainesville-grown alternative-rock band, said an appearance at Gator Growl, UF's Homecoming pep rally in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, is being planned. But no contract has been signed. </p>

<p>Gator Growl producer Eric White said Growl officials have been in contact with the band. </p>

<p>"We are still working out a lot of details," White said. </p>

<p>Lauren Staley, in charge of public relations for Sister Hazel, said the band members have also been asked to be the grand marshals of UF's Homecoming parade. The band is still considering the offer. </p>

<p>Sister Hazel's success reached its peak in 1997 when their single "All For You" hit No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. </p>

<p>The band will release its latest album, "Absolutely," a few days after Gator Growl on Oct. 10. </p>

<p>Gator Growl, billed as "the world's largest student-run pep rally," begins at 7 p.m. on Oct. 6 and will feature comedians Jim Gaffigan and Gabriel Iglesias.</p>
