URM chances at top schools

I really want to pursue medicine at one of these schools. I have a couple of safeties but they aren't listed here.

European History
Macro and Micro Economics

Great recommendations from AP Biology teacher, AP Spanish teacher, and Guidance Counselor.

Essays were unique and well written.

ACT is low for Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, Cornell-- but definite chances at the others. And chances at those school as well, but that ACT will get in your way. Nail the essays! Best of luck!

Since Duke superscores the ACT, mine comes out to a 31.5 which would be a 32. Would that help significantly?

I think you have a great chance for everything except Brown/Dartmouth/Duke (crap shoots for everyone unfortunately). But seriously, I have a feeling you'll get in to Duke with a 32 ACT. Good Luck!! Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1261160-please-chance-me.html

bump! I'll chance back!!!

Which URM are you? Did your parents attend college? Where is your family from and how long have they/you been in the US? Income level?

you cant study med as an undegrad

I think you have a good chance, your ECs look great. Don't worry too much about your ACT, it's just under the middle percentile for many of the colleges. However, the ivies are a crapshoot for everyone.

@TheBigD Thanks! @Doener I didn't clarify, but I plan on majoring in Biology to be on the right path for med school. @Waverly, I've lived in the US my whole life and I'm African American and 1/4th Native American. My parents make just under 100k and both attended local community colleges for about 1 year or so before they stopped.

I think you have a great chance to get into one or more.

i think that your grades (rank & GPA) + URM status make every one of those schools a match, if not reach. Your ECs are focused toward your passion - medicine, and you've taken quite a few challenging courses. I think everything else that you've done cancels out the slightly low ACT because you're showing dedication and not a laundry list in everything else you do. Good job!

(chance me back? :])

Double URM + Sports + Stellar Academics = Highly Probable Admission into at least 1 of your reaches

Being an URM with such test scores, you have good chances at all the schools listed. But the ivies are a reach for anyone. Good luck!

bumpity bump will chance back!

I think, thanks to your double URM status, all those schools are within your reach. They range from target schools to high matches. The most negative part of your app is obvs your ACT score, but your essays and recs can counteract that.
