Whats a good match?

What school would be a good match for me?

SAT: 1210 / 1750
ACT: 26
GPA: 2.4 out of 4.0

Extracurriculars:
Varsity Wrestling (captian and several awards)
Varsity Swimming and Diving (captain and several awards)
Swim Instructor at summer camp
Held another summer job doing maintenance
Started my own company fixing computers in the neighborhood
Teach senior citizens how to use a computer
Worked on a local political campaign

What are you interested in doing?

I'm thinking either business, engineering, athletic training or sports management. Because of my weird situation of low gpa and good scores I applied to 20 schools.
Arizona State - Accepted
Auburn - Differed
Babson
Central Florida
Boulder - Differed
Denison
Denver
Florida State - Rejected as florida resident :(
Indiana Bloomington
Marquette
Providence
Purdue - Accepted
San Diego
SMU
TCU
Towson
Trinity - san antonio
Tulane

......bump

lol...I was actually thinking of Arizona state for you...

Some other schools to consider:

Drexel, Northeastern, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana University

I thought northeastern, but they have a 5 year program. Also I really don't want cold weather if I don't have to.

Anyone else have any input?

Maybe Bentley College and University of Arizona as well.

Your current list looks good.

anyone else have any input.

Sorry to say, I think your GPA is just too low for some of the schools on this thread. Denison (3.6), Towson (3.5), Providence (3.4), Babson, Northeastern, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Bentley - all are (big) reaches for you.

I'm not that familiar with some of the other schools on your list. Hopefully there are some safeties on there that you like? Purdue might be good - and you're already in there.

With 20 applications, I'm not sure you should be looking for more schools to apply to.

I've been talking to dive coaches both from towson and from denison. Thats the only reason they're on the list. My safeties were central florida and florida state. But apparently florida state has a strict cut off at like a 2.7 so I got kinda screwed there. Central florida I havent' heard from, but i got into purdue and arizona state so it doesn't matter. Keep in mind that I have good EC's, essays, and teahcer recs.

I know they're big reaches, but it's worth a shot. Purdue and Arizona State are great universities anyway.

Are there any other schools that would weigh more on my EC's than my grade. And I have learning disabilities, do alot of schools take this into consideration if i'm willing to disclose it.

anyone have any suggestions for schools.

Hi- we "met" on the USD thread...my son has learning disabilities too, but he is still a soph..
just curious if you have an IEP or 504 plan, and if you had any testing accomodations on the SAT...if so, these things will help support your learning disabilities
there is a whole thread here on CC on LD you may want to check out

best of luck to you

idk what an IEP or a 504 plan is. But i do have accomodations for both the SAT and ACT

WAXON - you might want to take a shot at East Carolina University - ECU -especially with the Swimming/Diving - it is D1 - how are your times compared to the schools you are looking at if you are considering swimming/diving - also rolling admissions - but would consider doing that fairly soon.

bump up to the top
