I have a 5.3/6.0 GPA weighted, which (from the 4.0 scale) translates into 3.42/4.0. An ‘A’ in honors/AP is a 6.0/6.0 and 5.0/6.0 being an ‘A’ in standard or a ‘B’ in honors/AP. I took all honors/AP courses throughout high school. I know a 5.3/6.0 is not great.

My concern is that I see so many colleges like NYU saying that their average GPA for acceptance is a 3.6. From my school, the average acceptance into NYU is with a 5.15/6.0 GPA weighted (not sure what it is on a 4.0 but probably around 3.2/4.0 maybe…)

Although I think it will be fine because decisions take the school profile into account, the NYU 7 year dental program has a 3.5 GPA minimum requirement (although I’m struggling to find the webpage for that again). Will they just throw out all application with GPAs less than 3.5? Or will they still consider them?
