will colleges cut me some slack?

I’m a Senior and I’ve only gotten 4 B’s in high school. 3 of those 4 B’s came in Spanish, and I have no intention whatsoever of pursuing any foreign language after high school. The other B cam in AP Physics B. Will colleges cut me a little slack seeing as I got 3 of my 4 B’s in one subject that I struggled in?

Well, the way you phrased this makes me believe that every other one of your grades is an A. In that case, you’re good. And 3/4 being in a subject you were not proficient in makes it seem even less important. The other is a hard AP course. So yeah, your grades are excellent, colleges don’t need to “cut [you] some slack”.

It depends which colleges you’re looking at. At top colleges, there are tons of applicants with straight A’s throughout high school. If you’re looking at lower-ranked colleges, they are definitely more willing to let a couple of B’s slide- especially since the majority of your transcript will be A’s. The B in AP Physics won’t be looked at harshly, but if I saw that the 3 other B’s were in the same subject, I would wonder why you didn’t seek tutoring or other outside help after getting the first B.
