Joint Major in English and Education

I am doing a joint major in English and Education. I was originally a nursing major and I really hated it so, I decided that I wanted to teach English. I could go he originally Education route and get a concentration in English, but my advisor recommend that I do a joint Major in English and Education. The joint major on eliminates my electives for each degrees and when I graduate I will have two degrees on one diploma. I also go to the University of St. Thomas. So, my question is: Is it worth it?
