How hard is it to transfer to TAMU? I am applying to school of arts and sciences as a history major. I have an associates degree with a 3.2 GPA. I am active in my community and I am involved at my school.

    Not entirely true.

The 3.0 guaranteed admission is through a program called TAPP (Transfer Articulation Pilot Program). TAPP is only available through the 10 community colleges listed below:

    Other Pathways - Participating Institutions

If you didn't receive at least 24 credits of transferable coursework from one of those institutions, then you'll be under review.

check with each department to be sure. Biomedical department is at 3.25. be careful on what you are asking them. The required gpa is differ from the competitive gpa. Also take into consideration that each department require certain class to be done with or is currently taking to be accepted. Also, 2 different gpa will be calculate, 1 overall gpa (cumulative gpa), and the other from your major classes such as english, math, and science, acct. Both of them must pass the 3.0 in order to be consider

It is not entirely true. While you might get into A&M, I'm pretty sure you cant be automaticlly admitted into the Mays College of Business or the College of Architecture.
There may be a few more that are not automatic admits for transfer students - you will have to check with the college you want to transfer into.

I wouldnt say there is an "auto admit" GPA but, there is a GPA to be considered safe for the spot. I agree, 3.0 for liberal arts is safe, while I would consider a 3.8 safe for business but not always because it depends on courses taken.

there is no auto admit to Mays or College of Architecture
  • mcalvelloxxmcalvelloxx Registered User Posts: 250 Junior Member
Is a 3.8 also a MUST for architecture?
I have a friend who got in with a 3.2 from UTSA..
  • ampzorampzor Registered User Posts: 523 Member
    No idea about architecture.

Firescorpy, were you agreeing with me or did you not understand my statement?

Auto-admit for transfer is a lot like auto-admit for HS students in the fact that there is an auto-admit, but it's auto-admit into the university... not necessarily the major that you are pursuing. For high demand colleges, such as Mays and Look, the transfer GPA is honestly going to have to be pretty high. For schools like liberal arts or geosciences, it will be significantly lower.
