First one is a BA program and one is a BFA. At Tisch you would be at one of the acting studios. NorthWestern BA acting is not an audition program Tisch is. Both wonderful reputations for academics and their Drama programs. I would think that Tisch Drama might be stronger for training since it is a BFA. I would go on the web sites for each school and compare them that way, but you will have to look at the web sites for all the acting studios at NYU.

We've looked at both schools in the past few months but haven't had a child attend either. So, my perspective is that of a visiting prospective parent. The training at NYU is better, in my opinion. For one, you get more of it, and the cohort of students in the program if of a much higher caliber at NYU.

Academically, Northwestern may have the edge, but they are so comparable that any edge would be razor sharp.

If you or your child is looking for a true "acting" program, NYU is your place.

But if you want more of a liberal arts feel you may like Northwestern. It may give you a chance to double major and you get more academics. You can always get an MFA in acting and I heard Northwestern even has a showcase too.

Thank you for your input. I'm currently a senior deciding which of the two to attend, and I'm not sure whether I want the college experience or the bfa training.

There's a really good article on the difference. You may want to contact Chrissy(on these threads) and ask her the url for the site Someone posted the article on her thread and Soov also may help you.
