RADA this summer, anyone?

Our son is going to RADA for the summer Shakespeare course and I was wondering if anyone else knows a student who is also going. We were hoping for possible contacts he could make before leaving in July. Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Will do---- DS is looking forward to this! He has gone through stages of being thrilled, then worried, and now he is excited about it. We are going a few days early to get situated, then I am going to Oxford for a course on Jane Austen for a week (!) before I leave. He'll fly home by himself. We finally worked all this out as a sort of vacay for me and a way to stay in the country for at least a week or so, albeit an hour away.

If anyone is planning to go to Europe this summer, don't go see the movie Taken right before you leave! It was one of the most shocking films I have seen in a long time. Liam Neeson is fabulous in it, of course, but the subject matter--older teens abducted and sold---just hits a mom in the solar plexus.

The book for the course just came today and DS is deciding what monologues he wants to prepare for it... I'll bet five bucks he comes back with a British accent!

Do you remember what month you applied? I know the spots fill up quickly and we are planning to look into RADA for next summer.

I hope he has the BEST time!!

Skipsmom, I want to go to the same Oxford course you are going to. I originally wanted to take Stuart Dress but it sold out and then the date became inconvenient. So I am thinking about doing the Georgian Village one. Just waiting for the rest of the family to firm up plans. Did you enroll already? And do they tell you what kind of rooms you will be getting? If I go would you like to meet?

I think it was in February, Mamabear. He is doing the Shakespeare program though, and not the high school program which I understand fills up MUCH quicker. By the time we started looking into it the MT for young people (h.s. program is three themed weeks that can be done separately) already had a waiting list, so if that is your interest I'd check into it right after Christmas. DS was going to be old enough for the other program by the summer and it was really what he wanted to do anyway so that part worked out.

It is not as long as some of the US programs, but because of the falling British pound it will end up costing about the same as some we considered.

I didn't see your post, Iamsoconfused! The accomodations are in a sort of visitors' hall that is much, much nicer than most of the actual college dorms---or so says my friend in London. Yes, I would LOVE to meet!
