Hello,

*I'll be 17 years old at the time of transfer*

I am currently a sophomore at a community college hoping to transfer to a top university.I graduated two years early from high school (left after my sophomore year) due to financial reasons (i had to help my parents out because they're getting older- and in the long run this would be the smarter financial decision).

Anyways, here are my stats:
ACT Composite: 35
College GPA: 4.0
High School GPA: 3.9

major of interest: anthropology
EC:
Vice-president anthropology club
-internship at non-profit organization dealing with middle eastern/north african culture
-creator and head of music teaching program at a non-profit organization that caters to children from low-income areas suffering from mental disorders
-creator and head of cultural enrichment program at the same place listed previously
-tutor for reading at low-income school
-soprano student at music conservatory for 3 years
-presented&won anthropology symposium at school (presented on original research on anthropological topic
-i work at a local pharmacy as a clerk for the past two years
-been helping out at my dad's small business for the last four years
-created a youth council that is active in local govt.
-research on cancer cells (tested various pharmaceutical drugs)

From what you said about your parents, I assume you want to live at or very close to home. That rules out most colleges. Where do you live? Do you expect to commute?

i'll be at junior standing at the end of spring semester.
well, no. after i transfer, i'll be able to live out of state, and not near my parents...that's not really a factor.

Good job on the ACT, 35 is a very good composite score. 4.0 GPA is also extremely good as it shows you have improved from high school 3.9. Where do you live? Depending on that, we could chance you for schools in anthro.

What are you looking for in a school? There's a lot more to picking a college than academics. Do you want to be in a city or a small town? Any particular region of the country? What sort of social scene are you looking for? Even though you'll be a junior, I imagine you want to fit in and have a good time at whatever institution you'll be attending.

Yes! Good party scene, please! ahah. I would really enjoy a private school somewhere on the east or west coast! Anthro major is important, but so is a minor in public health for me. I'm not too hot about small liberal arts schools...

Well from what i've heard, a major factor is where you're currently going since a selective college is probably going to accept a student from a equally selective college

But just from what you've said and that you want a party scene... UIUC, IU....sorry thats as far as my knowldege as far as party schools go...ASU is a party school but probably too low for someone with your stats

I don't know of any school worth their salt that doesn't have an anthro major. If you're looking for a lively party scene, I'd suggest a Vanderbilt or University of Virginia; if those are too "southern", maybe one of the UCs would be a better fit. I'd avoid Ivies and their ilk, as the social scene tends to take a bit due to the competitiveness and the kids who are just there for the brand name degree, rather than to have fun at the same time.
