I don't think it is required to have finished it for TAG but it definitely looks better for the regular application

@anish_the_ind: Here is a link to the CS transfer course requirements for UCSC: https://catalog.ucsc.edu/Current/General-Catalog/Academic-Units/Baskin-School-of-Engineering/Computer-Science-and-Engineering/Undergraduate-Program/Computer-Science-BS
Physics is not listed as a required course for transfer on the link nor on assist.org

I am TAG'ing to UCSC and submitted my app last week, and yesterday I received a UCSC email yesterday saying they just extended their transfer deadline to January 3rd, 2020. Does anyone know why that might be? I assume they didn't meet their goal of # of transfer applications so maybe they're hoping they'll get some more applicants until them but I've never heard of a UC extending their deadline over a month past the traditional 11/30 due date.

@imsydv Colleges typically extend their application deadline if they want to receive more applications. Maybe UCSC, or each just UC, does have a goal amount for applications each year. It is a little odd that 3 UCs were extended for that far though.

I'm a California resident currently attending UW Madison and I'm thinking about transferring to UCSC as a math major. My GPA is kinda low (2.92) due to a bad grade, and I feel that I'm not going to do well in Calc 3 in this semester so I'm planning to retake the class next semester. Any tips and thoughts?

Noticed this thread is a little dead and figured I'd try to get it going again since March 17th is less than two weeks away.

    My stats are:
    Major: Literature
Overall GPA: 3.43 (Started community college at 16 and flunked nearly everything, but I'm 25 now with straight A's so hopefully the upward trend is apparent)
    Major GPA: 3.91
    IGETC: Finished in the Spring
    TAG: Yes
PROS: Associates in English, Strong essays, Single parent
CONS: No extracurricular activities, both parents went to college

I'm incredibly nervous because I've made a few changes to my planned schedule and I've heard this can void a TAG (I still meet the TAG requirements though). Is it true that any transfer student who meets the minimum requirements is automatically in?

I have good stats but applied here as kinda a safety in case my TAG goes wrong or if the fact I failed out of first college ruins my admissions

    Stats:
Colleges attended: Left McGill in 2016 (1.5yr) with 1.76 gpa and unsatisfactory standing. Returned to a CCC in 2017.
    Major: Electrical Engineering
    UC GPA: 3.94
    IGETC: Complete
    Major prereqs: Complete by spring.
Degrees: AS-T Math and AA General Sciences in spring.
    TAG: UCSB for Applied Mathematics
Essays: average, tried but I'm not a good writer.
ECs: Math Tutor, work at a few cafes, some small independent engineering projects.

    Good luck to everyone applying

Omg, transfer decisions started dropping at midnight on the 17th last year. Only 25.5 hours to go. I'm so nervous I can't handle myself.

lol I have no idea. I'm excited but I have a feeling I will not be apart of the first wave of admissions. The email and site says Marc 17th - April 30th so we'll see. Looking at last years thread there were quite a few people who didn't get their admission decision immediately at midnight.

I feel there will be a delay in decision this year because of COVID-19 virus things. Let’s see tonight!

It seems like TAG applicants might be notified first.

They claim: "We prioritized the review of applicants who had submitted a UCSC TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) application, as well as many other transfers who appeared highly qualified and were transferring directly from a California community college."

    https://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer-not-admitted.html

This page actually has a lot of fairly reassuring information. It seems to confirm that any transfer student who meets the minimum requirements is in.

Anyone here who TAG'ed for CS? There were a plethora of people in past years who were denied TAG even after they apparently met the requirements, so I'm hoping everything goes well

I wonder if those people made any changes to their proposed schedules. I did not TAG for CS, but I've heard the rules are a little bit murky for TAG applicants. Some claim that even minor changes in coursework completely void the TAG, although I don't think they outright say that anywhere and it seems ridiculous to assume everyone will be able to get into every class they claim they will take on their TAG application. Perhaps for more impacted majors, schools will look for any way they can to void it, but I think if an applicant truly meets the requirements they should be admitted even with minor changes. The last counselor I talked to at my school seemed really irritated that UCs void TAGs for unavoidable course changes and said they are looking to change this so that as long as we meet the minimum requirements we aren't bound to the coursework we report. I've made some significant changes myself, so I'm hoping I'm not screwed.
