I want to leave UC Davis

OmghelpOmghelp 0 replies1 threads New Member
Hi. I am an incoming sophomore at UC Davis with about 46 credits majoring in Chicano Studies. I am 8 hours away from home and want to go back immediately. I have never felt so anxiety-ridden, stuck, lost, etc. I thought coming back to Davis would be easier considering it's my 2nd year but my mental health is deteriorating from being here. I have severe depression and anxiety and being in Davis isn't helping at all. I want to go back home and transfer to another UC much closer to home. Is there a way to do this without having to stay the full 2nd academic year at Davis? I was also thinking of dropping out of Davis after fall/winter quarter and going to a cc and then transferring to ucr whenever i can? I just need help and advice.

Sorry you're struggling. You're not alone. Many have ups and downs and take time or have a change of school. Please seek assistance

"To schedule an individual counseling appointment call (530) 752-0871"

    For withdrawing, see registrar

"Students may cancel, before the start of instruction, or withdraw, after the start of instruction but on or before the last day of instruction, for any reason. The Cancellation/Withdrawal process separates the student from the university for the requested academic term and future academic terms. To return to the university, the student must submit a Readmission Application.
Cancellation/withdrawal from Summer Sessions does not affect attendance in academic terms."
Good luck, take deep breaths, keep reaching out for help, you will be alright.

i really feel for you. Two family friends had similar experience at Davis. Anxiety is no joke, you are right to make a dramatic change to help address it.
Use the contact info in the posted above to withdraw. Most CCs are on semesters so, it's probably too late to enroll for Fall so, you'll probably miss a semester. Use that time to relocate and to focus on you.

    I wish you the best.

Sorry you going through this difficult time. Your first priority is your mental health so please take care of yourself.

You have been given the information to withdraw from UCD so make sure you go through the proper channels. You want to leave UCD in good standing or you will be not be able to transfer to another UC later.

Once you are feeling better, enroll in your local CC, complete your transfer requirements and then apply to schools of your choice.

    Best of luck.
