Credit/No Credit Classes

Hey sorry if this has been answered before:

I had a 4.0 until I got a B in French 1 last semester (5 units weighs heavier, bummer dude!), so I'm wondering whether it's a good idea to take my French 2 class as credit/no credit or if that looks bad to biggie schools like UCLA & Cal or USC. I don't want to risk lowering my GPA over trivial classes bleh..

Also, I got 2 W's this sumer while overseas because I dropped the classes late, does that look bad/ how much emphasis to they place upon withdrawls?

I'm planning to apply this fall to UCs as an Anthro major which I know isn't super competitive, but still I don't want to take any chances. Thanks!

They really don't care about Ws. Why are you even taking french 2? Take something easy and get an A. If you really want to, definitely take the pass/no pass option. It's nice to not have to stress about a class like that.

I was told by a counselor that I needed 2 years of language for IGETC (at LAVC).. bc I was lazy in highscool. He didn't really seem to have it together (why are you trying to diss & dissuade me from my major into something boring like buisness, encouraging me to go to Cal State when I have grades for UCs, etc dude), but the IGETC paperwork said 2 years lang, even tho I know other school are different.. anywho I would lovee to not take French if that's possiblay.. so you don't think I need it?

GOD! Counselors are SUCH IDIOTS! Two years... that's only if you completed the requirement in high school! You only need one semester at CC for the UCs! Christ. Ignore your counselor, go to assist.org, and figure out all your transfer/igetc requirements from there. WOW. I'm like tripping about how **** your counselor is.

wait i'm pretty confused, my counselor told me the same thing. Also, i took Arabic 1 and 2 but he told me i couldn't use arabic it had to be asl, spanish, german, french or chinese.
Here is my ccc's igetc. if you scroll down it doesn't list arabic and it says i have to take two semesters. is every community college different? oh btw i'm an anthro major too :)

Take whatever your counselors say about IGETC certification with a grain of salt. Go to whoever is in charge of IGETC certification and ask them. Usually this is the graduation office.

All I see is that it tells you to complete one of those courses... which is weird, because UCLA totally accepted my ASL 1... and everyone I know (transferring from Moorpark Community College or Pierce) went in with only one semester (or two years in high school) of an introductory language. I believe OUR arabic is transferable. Sucks, man. Maybe your CC is operating differently than mine did? I don't know. I will stress, when it comes to all this stuff, check with the schools you want to transfer to, because community college counselors, and their entire transfer departments in general, are subpar, and have screwed many a people many a time. You'll find all sorts of messed up things that have happened to people on this board. I took extra classes I didn't need, and I have a few friends who did the same thing because their counselors were idiots. Again, don't trust your CC admin or faculty, and figure out everything yourself!
