Is it easy/possible to double major in both L&S: Computer Science (I'm guessing EECS would probably be even harder) and Business at UCB? I know that both programs are among the toughest in the university, so do you think it is possible to do both while having a social life and staying sane? If not, how about minoring in Business? Also, is there a lot of bureaucracy that needs to be passed through before such an arrangement can be made? Are there certain academic requirements? I'm mostly interested in Computer Science, but I was wondering about my possibilities in Business at UCB. Thanks in advance.

U must do fpf...okay first of all nobody even nkowz ur in fpf unless u tell them...u live in dormz and do everyhting else all other students do. The classes i liked a lot mroe than those in berkeley (cause they are smaller and the profesor is a lot easier to approach then in a 500 peps audotorium). Yes the level of difficulty is pretty comparable to that of berkeley classes (although dependz wat u take). I REALLY reccomend doing the extension program...it waz a GREAT experience!!! i LOVED IT! Umm...some advice regarding extension:
    1) APPLY ASAP!! spots fill up fast and its first come first serve
    2) Soc3AC w/Haytin = easiest class in the word, u learn nothing, but everyoen got an A last semester
Anthro1 (biological) = really intense, hard class...u learn a lot tho
Stats 2 w/sugahara = easy and fun, and hes a great professor
yea..overall really good--and its nice that all ur classes are in one building and if ur in dorms u can just roll outta bed and be in class in 5minz instead of having to walk all the way to campus.
newho hope i helped. lemme know if u have nemore questions. Buh yea...lookin back on it fpf waz one of the smartest thingz i did!

trust me kid, you're gonna love cal if it's ur first choice, there's no "second class" bear-ness associated with fpf, you can even get the football tickets for free.
    cal's a great place

football is big, we study hard and party hard. homie if you can talk, you can get laid here, the competition for girls is low because alotta the guys here are NOT SLICK.
the weed is AMAZING, and if you know people there's always a party and you can always find it, it's just not like some schools where its more open and you can find parties more easily (UCSB or Arizona).

football is really fun, freshman getfree tickets.

THE GIRLS: ok, so this goes in waves, i must be honest, theres not a a HUGE contingent of outstandingly super super hot girls. you will have them around, and there's a lot of girls who are naturally good looking, and don't really show themselves off much all the time. however, there's also a lot of "WHOA" chicks, and i don't mean whoa in a goodlooking sense, i mean, sending cold shivers up your spine.
However, berkeley's go the most interesting nerdy girls ever, because they've all gotta story, and they're all super smart, which for me makes them more attractive because you're not hooking up with airheads all the time. one thing: Freshman girls are shy because they were top of their class and perfect in highschool, and now they're coming out of their shell. Alotta guys come up to Cal expecting girls to come to them, you gotta chase it down a bit up here. As the weather gets colder, the girls get uglier, but right now, in the spring even the ugly girls are looking better, it's amazing for girls in the spring semester, i don't know why, but they're looking better and they're horny.

Frats are big, and if you dig that scene you can join one. I'm not in one, and you certainly don't need to be in a frat to get into a party if you know enough people.

anyway, that's my impression as a freshman in berkeley.

p.s. the dorms are a bit of a rip off, and RA's are uptight douches who try and protect people who constantly study, but that's part of the fun, getting yourself out of trouble.

    goodluck

Yes u need to superfast airmail ur fpf thing cause i don't think u can pay the $100 online...and there waz a weightlist last year for it (esp for peps who didn't send it in like THAT nite!). Okay, berkeley is the #1 public university in the nation (as opposed to umich #2--which is where ur thinking of going). Honestly, NOBODY knew i waz in fpf until i told them like 3/4 of the way through the semester! People REALLY don't look down on u for it --and most times they won't even know cuase u go to classes and such just like everyoen else. Also, a lot of my friends (reg. admitz) were super jealous of me that i waz in fpf cause i got to meet so many more people (in smaller classes its easier to make friends rather than the huge 500 people audotoriums). Trust me it waz a really awesome experience (i really miss it to be quiet honest)...and it waz a great transition into cal. I am not going to force u or tie u down to go to xtension...buh if berkeley waz ur number one choice and they admitted u...then u should go. Congratz and hopefully u'll make the rite decision :D...ask away if u have nemore questions.

The 3.0 is for all of senior year... you still have a couple months to bring up your grades don't you?

    1. Best dorms?

Oh, and also - 2. What if you get lower than a C but higher than 3 average?

    Karch, It's a 3.0 with no D's...

Dorms? I think most people would say the Units are the most popular for 1st year students... they are all located on the south side which is where Telegraph Ave is. I live in a Unit 1 mini suite which tends to be less sociable and quiet. It has worked out great for me because I tend to like to party awy from home... my floor is quiet so it's it's good for studying. If you are an EECS major you may be swayed to Foothill. I don't recommend for 1st year if you want a social life.
Cal also has a substance free building... Freeborn. It's in Unit 1 and very popular. There's also themed floors...
The only housing I highly recommend staying away from unless you take a tour of first (while students are there!) is the co-ops. I've heard some intersting stories and I've been to several parties in the co-ops. Some of them are downright filthy and disgusting. Some people say co-op living is the best at Cal and it may be. It it interests you, check the houses out first.
    Hope I answered your questions.

Unit 1's the most popular, I'm guessing?

    Edit: Oh, beaten. Thanks, CA2006.

sweetheart: I would concentrate on getting at least a 3.0 unweighted for all of senior year... in the meantime contact the admissions office next week and ask them if you can combine both semesters. I am almost certain they will be lenient if you have good reason why you dropped to 2.8... good luck.

I like Unit 1 best, maybe because I live there... Unit 3 is just off Telegraph (at Channing.) You literally walk down Telegraph to get to campus. They have their own dining center and a little store within their complex.
Unit 2 is just south of Unit 1 and almost identical to Unit 1 (in looks.) There's a parking structure under contruction that will be between the 2 soon and will have a baseball field (??) on top.
I have made friends in all the Units. You'll be happy wherever you end up.

I submitted my SIR already and now I have to apply for housing. Is there a general ranking you could give me? I have no idea which one to put as first-fifth preference

Should I buy a bike? BTW, I'm considering EECS mainly, or pre-Haas.

And where could I work out? And would that answer change if I chose Unit 1? Is crossroads someplace you could eat at most nights, and is it right across the street?
