Adding/Dropping Classes?

So right now, I'm in Spanish 25...intending (or so I thought) to be a Spanish major...but I freaked out on the first day b/c we had some diagnostic test to see if we were ready...and it was the hardest thing I've ever seen/taken in Spanish.
My question is: If I drop the class, I'd be in 12 units, so I'd obviously have to take something in its place to get me back to full time...so I'm thinking a decal.

But can I still add one? Also, what're they like? Hard/easy? I heard they're easy. If I drop this class, I might switch majors (just fyi lol). Thanks! :)

Do you know how you scored and where you placed compared to the rest of the class? Many Cal classes feature diabolical tests, low absolute scores but can still put you well above the mean, yielding an A grade.

Make sure that the diagnostic test wasn't made particularly hard so that it could finely measure very advanced students, but having a low threshold to be considered qualified.

On the other hand, there are plenty of easy and fun DeCal courses you can still get into.

Haha I remember the first few days of Spanish 25 and being overwhelmed by everything :) Everything will settle down by the third week, I think. I wasn't a Spanish major or minor but I needed the class for a breadth requirement. The class is actually doable; I'm pretty sure more than half the class will receive some form of A. You can always brave the class in another semester with a different GSI.

^ I think this is fine. Just make sure you get the syllabus and "announcements" from the professor or another classmate.
