Waitlisted and if space becomes available

Do you know what is the basis for selceting a person out off waitlist to admitted pool. Is it based on the content of 200 word statement or based on the fall/spring semester grades?
If it solely on the grades, what is your opinion on the 3.8 unweighted GPA for fall and 3.8 unweighted for the on-going spring semester?

This is my opinion only. I don't think its based on either. I think the essay is just to weed down the waitlist a bit - if you aren't really interested in Davis, you probably won't bother. I think the acceptances are either 1) random from the remaining waitlist or 2) you have already been put in an order based on the original acceptance criteria.
