Lower Division Transfer?

bavoshbavosh 4 replies3 postsRegistered User New Member
I’m interested in majoring in Environmental Science and Management. I heard you can apply to the College of agriculture and environmental science as a lower division transfer (it’s also stated on their website). Since I’m starting my first year of community college this fall, I’m wondering how I can do the lower division transfer process and what’s specific courses do I need to complete?

Note: By summer of 2020, I’ll be completed with the Chem Series, English requirement, stats requirement, econ requirement, one semester of calculus (you need two to fit the 3 quarter series), and one semester of bio.

Thanks for the help

So you will be applying for Fall 2020? UC Davis requires that you have all transfer courses completed by Spring 2020 if you plan to matriculate by Fall 2020. Priority is given to Junior level transfers so if there is room, they will consider lower division transfers.

The Transfer GPA admit range for ESM 2018 was 3.12-3.57.

What CC are you attending and have you checked Assist.org for the course requirements? At the minimum, you would need to complete the following seven transferable college courses, earning a grade of C or better in each course:
    • Two courses in English composition
    • One course in mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning
    • Four courses chosen from at least two of these subject areas: arts and humanities; social and behavioral sciences; and physical and biological sciences
Along with any major prep required courses by Spring.

If they let you apply as a sophomore you do not need all req completed. You have the English and math and a good chunk of req. Go for it.

Orange Coast College (city of Costa Mesa). I looked under ASSIST and the courses align with the major requirements in which I signed up for.
As for the 7 courses, I’ll have them completed.
    2 courses in English
2 courses in Math (also a major requirement)
    1 course in art
1 course in humanities (also a major requirement)
1 course in biology (also a major req)
1 course in chemistry (also a major req)

    @Gumbymom see above. Thanks!

@Ohm888 Interesting! I’ll speak with my advisor and call them just so it’s solid. Also, I’ll have to apply through the regular UC Application portal l, correct?

Yes, you apply through the regular application, but keep in mind even if open, there are very few seats awarded. But no harm, no fowl. You simply reapply as a junior if it doesn’t pan out. Good luck!
