    A few questions for you:
Are you a first generation college student? (did your parents get college educations?)
What is your school API score?
What AP classes have you taken?
What scores have you earned on the AP tests you took so far?
Your SAT scores are low for UCD engineering so this will help us see a clearer picture.

I actually think you'll be fine. Your UC GPA more than makes up for your SAT score. 1520 was probably the average, if not less in my high school, and about 30 of us went to UCD. You also have decent EC's.

    No Im not first generation

I dont know whats an API score

I've taken the following ap, honors, Ib courses:
Chemisty Honors, Ap US History, Ap Lang. and Comp., Ap Calculus
, Ap Lit. and Comp., and I am taking Ib Biology SL
If it helps I've taken 6 years of math course work throughout my highschool(took summer school advancement)

My grades show and upward trend: Freshman year: sem1:3.0, sem2:3.667
    Soph year: sem1:4.0, sem2: 4.0, Junior year: sem1:4.5, sem2:4.5
I never took any Ap test.

UCs only use sophmore and junior year grades

In at Davis, I'd say. I had a few students from my school who are attending with similar stats (a 4.0 GPA and 1530 SAT).

I wouldn't expect UCLA or UCB though unless you get that SAT up.

I think you're in. I know people frm my school got in with 1400s and 3.5s. dont worry

If you weren't going for engineering I'd agree. It of course depends on how many students apply this year and what their stats are. I would say you have a good shot, but you should have a backup plan.

You were riding completely on your GPA beforehand anyways. I still would consider Davis "safe", but don't completely rule out a rejection (although let me be the first to say I wouldn't expect this at all)

Your SAT score is definitely below average for UCD (I think average is around 1800?). If you weren't going for engineering I would say you still have a good chance with your GPA, but engineering is generally much tougher to get into. Do you still have any opportunities to retake the test?

Yup, the above comments are true. UCD Admissions also says that engineering is toughest to get accepted into UCD also.

Here is an excerpt from their website:

    *Founded in 1962

*One of the nation's fastest growing engineering schools

*Highest SAT and ACT scores among all UC Davis incoming freshmen

*One of the largest undergraduate engineering programs in the UC system, with over 3000 undergraduate students.

If you selected a non-engineering major as your alternative choice, you're in. Otherwise, you're probably screwed.

It's civil engineering though >_>;; When I was at freshman orientation and the counselors were lining us up according to engineering major, there were 5 people total in the MSE and Civil E line. It's not as impacted as you'd expect.
  • pikepike Registered User Posts: 293 Junior Member
I really don't think there were 5 people in the Civil Engineering line..it is usually one of the more popular engineering majors..
