Freshman Applications Up, Transfer Down Slightly for Fall 2006

The University of California has received more than 106,000 applications for undergraduate admission for fall 2006, according to a preliminary report. Applications increased by 6.6 percent over last year, from 100,138 to 106,784. This represents an 8.8 percent increase (from 76,152 to 82,841) at the freshman level, and a slight decline, 0.2 percent (from 23,986 to 23,943), at the transfer level.
