Able to raise LOW gpa?

So I recently finished my first quarter as a freshman with a 2.71 gpa. Is it even possible to raise my gpa high enough by the time I apply for med school? :[

I got around the same GPA as you. I was so upset...how on earth did I get a C+ in geography with the curve!? It sucks really bad, but it was the first quarter and now I know my mistakes. I shouldn't take an easy class so lightly. Next time, I will be sure to study hard for every class!
