^^^its going to be a reach/slight reach due to the fact that you are an out of stater and your gpa is really low.

i agree... my grades are improving much this year...

    senior year:
    Present History Honors (90)
    Orchestra (100)
    AP Environmental Science (80)
    PE (100)
    English 12 (86)
    AP Economics (94)
    AP Statistics (80)

Do you think these grades improve my chances/

UC's won't see them. They don't want senior grades until after you decide to apply or not if you have been accepted.

damn it. thanks for telling me gospy!

    any more opinions? bump

I don't wanna hurt your feelings, but I think your GPA will keep you out. Average GPA at UCI is like 3.9.

thanks gospy. i want to go to UCI so badly. aah. if they had ED, then i would definitely do it.

is there any way to show my interest?

i was an '05 applicant who got accepted with the same stats (and an even lower gpa i might add). you're probably at a disadvantage being out of state, but don't give up! and by the way, why irvine? i'm curious to know.
  • stuckinnjstuckinnj Registered User Posts: 207 Junior Member
    hmm thanks evelyn

i just got my new SAT scores.

    750 (critical reading)
    540 (writing)
    690 (math)

do you think if i send these in, it would help me significantly?

i want to go to UCI just to escape the negative atmosphere here in NJ. i'm so tired of the east coast. :(

I think she means why UCI over some of the other UCs like UCSB or UCD...btw I think it's a good choice...I am currently a second year at UCI and enjoying it :) and I got into all the UCs I applied to (including berk) except for ucla, haha.

Overall, you GPA is kinda low. That's the only thing, other than that your scores look decent. Oh yeah, you'll be in good company with the Asians here. 50% of the school, haha.

correct me if i'm wrong, selecting the december scores on your applications automatically makes them your official ones? in any case, i'd check out ****.com for individual opinions on different schools; they tend to be a bit biased but that's left for you to decide. don't want to jump the gun there, i was surprised you chose irvine for a change of atmosphere; in my opinion UCI is an even smaller bubble than my own hometown and that is what's been my biggest adjustment since my move down here...once again solely my own presumptions. anyway, don't want to blabbler on but if you'd like to know more "why's" i'd love to expand hahahah. (and don't get me wrong, there's tons to love about irvine)

I grew up in Irvine and I'm going to UCI. How's that for lack of change?

You're going to have a tough time getting in with that 3.3

Irvine may be a bubble, but I guess at least you'll be more afraid of the police than crime ($45 parking ticket my second week of school).

I love this analogy: You would be safe in Irvine even if you were an elderly woman in a wheelchair walking (wheeling i guess) down a dark street in the middle of night with ten thousand dollars cash in your lap.

gpa bit low, okay sat, but out of state thing would kinda hurt ya...

    best of luck though;)

    thanks you guys.

yeah i know my GPA is killing me... aaah.

so do you think they'll consider it? the december scores? i sent them in already.
  • stuckinnjstuckinnj Registered User Posts: 207 Junior Member
it's great to hear that irvine is such a safe place!!

yeah i understand the question, but the thing is i just want to get into any UC school so that i could go to the west coast and experience something new.
