Is it better to take a class with a difficult professor or to take the same class with an unknown one?

    Unknown. Your mileage may vary.

Unknown are usually visiting/part-time professors which I found to be easier. They're trying to please everyone and get good reviews. Sometimes the unknown are filled with a full-time professor at the last minute, but I personally would take the risk.

It depends on if the difficult professor is knowledgeable, or just difficult. Some profs are difficult because they can't teach while others are difficult because they want you to learn and think outside of the box. If it's the latter, take him. If it's the prior, run as fast as you can. lol
