i don't think they admit anyone with below 3.0 GPA right? isn't it some kind of UC policy?

University of California enforces a 3.0 minimum GPA; HOWEVER, they usually overlook it if your SAT scores are high. This year, though, they, and every UC campus, had the highest number of applications and the lowest amount of acceptance rates than ever before. In other words, you couldn't really have any flaw to your resume to UC.

As for an appeal, I don't have much to say, but unless you really have something huge that can really affect how the UC looks at you, your chances are slim for appeal. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try. UC Merced might go easy with appeals than with other campuses so don't give up hope!

It you want, you could try and raise your grades at a community college and see if they have any transfer agreements with the UCs. If they do, just get good grades and follow the requirements that each UC has and get in that way.

I was in a similar spot, I had a high GPA (4.0 cumulative GPA; 3.89 with the "a-g" GPA) yet low SAT scores (1620 SAT 1). I didn't get in to Berkeley, UCLA, and UC Davis.

If that is the basis on your appeal, they won't even look at it. You cannot appeal solely on your senior year grades, which is what you are doing, and they are not much better then your actual GPA. It is better to take easier classes if you cannot even get a 3.0 UW, meaning just B's. If you want a shot, though one is unlikely because your under the 3.0 bar that the UC's are fairly strict about, you need to find another reason for appealing. You left out some EC thing, or go do something special tomorrow like volunteering and make that the basis of your appeal. Good luck in this process.

Well dude you tried and 3.0 is a minimum of UC's. Coolmatt49 is right the UC's had the highest number of applications and the lowest amount of acceptance rates than ever before. But hopefully they accept the appeal! Let us know what they said...

I got a 3.17 GPA but I wasn't admitted. Maybe because my SAT scores were pretty low..

    To willson217:
Umm maybe, I don't know, but mine were also low and I got in. Maybe because you didn't have any extra things to bring to the table such as: community service, sports, clubs, etc...

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you were in at Merced with a 3.0 weighted + 1500+ Sats.

It is true that the Uc's like to see people who get involved (actually getting involved, not being part of random clubs). Perhaps you were on the border wilson and had nothing to push you over (of course I do not know your exact situation.

Go to a CCC and transfer to the UC of your choice, that is a very good option for you.

I had like 2 years of internship in City Hall and a couple of community services here and there. Haha it's fine though. I would've went to Merced if I got in though.

    To Wilson:
If you got to a JC and then transfer I'm sure you'll get into the college of your choice. good luck...

eh you should appeal, 1920 is really high. My friend got in UCSD with a 1520 but a 4.5ish gpa XD

i got in with a 2.58 unweighted GPA LOL
but i got straight A's in my first semester senior year
    My SAT was low haha...
I took like 10 AP classes, and i slept in every one. Bummer I could have done better

Good Luck with your appeal. I hope you get in. If not, then go to a community college for 1-2 years and reapply to the universities.

Edit: Sry didn't look at the date of this thread. lol.
