could i still get into UCSB with one D in my last quarter of senior year?

Hi, I am presently taking a gap year in Europe after graduating high school in NJ and I'm about to start my application process and then hopefully I'll be able to attend UCSB next year if I get accepted.

I have a 3.9 UW GPA from Sophomore and Junior year and a 29 ACT but I'm just slightly worried that I might have gotten a D+ in Honors Precalculus during my last quarter of senior year (I never received my last quarter senior year grades so I'm not 100% what my final grade was). I have read that UC schools will not accept students who receive anything below a C during any a-g classes but I'm uncertain if this corresponds to a whole year grade or simply any grade from a quarter, trimester, marking period, etc. I got an A and then two B's during my 1-3rd quarters so my overall grade for the class should not be lower than a B- including a possible D. Besides I had already completed 4 years of math with only A's previous to taking precalc so does that mean that it does not count in the a-g classes?

I would really appreciate if someone could let me know if this one D in my last quarter of senior year would mean that I won't have a chance of being accepted?

I think it is worth applying and finding out, and maybe call the university and just ask?

I think it is important if this is a grade that shows up on your transcript or not. So if is is not the overall grade for the semester it won't show and won't matter for sure. Otherwise UC really no not like to see D.

Not exactly. If your grade is lower than a C then the class doesn't count towards satisfying the a-g list. That is NOT the same as saying that a grade lower than a C in one of these classes is automatically denied. But of course they do look at your entire transcript, a-g course or not, and bad grades don't make you a stronger candidate ;-)
