Scholarship Chances with 28 ACT?

Senior, stats are as followed—
4.2 GPA weighted, 3.6 unweighted, took 6 AP classes (World, Bio, U.S., Lang, currently taking Psych and Stats) and a whole bunch of honors
1240 SAT (not hot) + 28 ACT (guessing this one is better)
Volunteer work (library), DECA, school-publishing/published literary magazine at school
I believe I'm around the 78th percentile.

Family isn't well off + is a minority, if that helps. But I'm in a financial pickle, and can't really afford to go to college w/o scholarships. Do I have a high chance of merit scholarships, and does DU give out need-based aid?

DU provides merit scholarships and financial aid, but unfortunately you won't know if it will be affordable until you apply, are admitted, and your particulars are considered. Average ACT for DU is 28 so unlikely you'll get significant merit money.

My student received 18K tuition merit aid per year plus housing money with a 28 ACT, but that was EA so not sure if there are different criteria for RD

@barryfan I stand corrected, that is significant merit money for sure. Hope the OP will send an app to DU too. Thanks for sharing.

Did you participate in DU's summer program for minority high school students? Participation includes a scholarship for students who eventually matriculate.

@nw2this I think you are asking the OP about the summer program, but just in case it was to me: No, my student did not participate in any summer program, nor did they visit the school/tour. Just met with an admissions rep when they came to our local school. (we are not minority). Still unsure as to if Denver is still being considered, but if it falls off the list we will for sure decline ASAP so that the $$ can then be available for another student still negotiating their package!
