no chance unless ACT is at least 28

How's that possible when I have a friend who received a 27 on the ACT, and was accepted into the honor's program with similar stats?

Btw, im not satisfied with a 25. I retook and anticipate a higher score, not necessarily 28+ though.

ACT average for LAS is around 27 to 28. I'd say you should work on your ACT a little more. If you by any chance apply to business or engineering, you will need atleast 30 on the ACT.

your friend may have gotten 27 but it gets harder every year, for example, the business school's middle 50% was 86-96 class rank a couple years ago and now its 91-98 percentile.

^ It's true; UIUC is continually tightening admissions standards. Heck, if LAS is 27-28 today, it might even be 28-29 tomorrow.

Definitely get a higher ACT score. I got a 28 and I applied to LAS as a Biology major. I got deferred the first time around, then got in in February. You may have a better shot at it since your class rank is higher, but I doubt it because you need to do better than a 25. Just retake it until you get a good score.

uiuc isn't raising standards, its just more people applying each year so more competition
