Should I wait until I get there to see the deals and discounts they give, or should I just buy one in August before I come? Anyone know about the discounts UMD gives and when/what they are? Do they give them out before classes start?

I have certain laptops in mind to buy and have been searching. But my dad insists I wait until I get there.

The deals they give don't compare to the recent deals that Dell has been running.

If you're not looking for anything spectacular, follow the instructions here:

    Dell XPS M140

    $649
    -$35
-~$10 if you pay with your Dell Preferred Account
    = $604 + tax/shipping

You can buy a $35 off coupon off of Ebay to lower the price.

Personally, I would go with upgrading the LCD for $29, and buy a 1GB SODIMM separately to throw into it. Depending on how much you travel with it, look into upgrading the battery.
