will I get in? getting nervous

hi everyone

I'm still waiting back from UMASS Amherst. It's the school I want to go to. Most of my friends heard back around March tenth, and I was wondering what my odds are of getting in, and how late they send out their letters. any help would be greatly appreciated

ok so for my stats...

I go to a small private high school, whose academics are more rigorous than most public highschools. Ive had an up and down trend

my freshman avg: 89.7
sophomore: 84
junior: low, around a 70
senior: 80

I calculated my gpa out a couple months back and it came out to around a 2.7

I had a tough slump my junior year, but recovered from it, and thats what my essay is about (and its a pretty damn good essay if I do say so myself)

also, my strong point are my sats (710 Verbal, 620 Math for 1330)
I've read about the sliding scale and it says with a 2.7 gpa you should have an sat score of 950 minimum. im not sure if thats outdated or not.

I was class president my sophomore year, and have been in a leading role for the last three plays at my school, did jv tennis for three years, switched to crew this year.

also im in state, and applying for financial aid

any thoughts?

The sliding scale is the MINIMUM for any public college or university in MA. However, UMA admits at well above the minimum. UMA usually says that students need a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. They are in the process of completing admission decisions.

I'm still waiting to hear back too! My GPA is about a 3.2 or so but my sats were only 1620/2400..and 1030/1600. Yeah, not too good, but my resume is about 2 pages long filled with volunteer work, jobs, sports, and band activities..i HEARD all the rejection letters have been sent out, but now the last of teh acceptance ones are being sent?! Idk, its april 9 and I have yet to hear back. I'm loosing hope at this point.

My daugher applied in early Dec, has 25 ACT, B+ and hasn't heard yet.
The other schools that she applied to got back months ago.

BTW, volunteer work is greatly overated. If you want to volunteer for the sake of helping others -that's great, but don't expect it to make much of a difference
at most schools. Schools like UMASS just can't afford to accept students with lower stats - SAT/grades, even with tons of volunteering..
