Hey guys! I know this might be very early but I wanted to start on my application so as possible so I can get some advice before applying.

I will be applying as a rising second year from a community college in Georgia. Here are my stats! Going for Majoring in Computer Science and a possible minors in Math or Econ.
If you were previously admitted I would love for you to chance me!

Applying for: Major: Computer Science and Possible Minors in Math or Econ.
    Stats:
-GPA: Currently by the end of the year summer I should have a 3.85-4.0 GPA.
-Credits: 32+ ( All College Work by the end of Summer 2019)
    -With Honors GPA
    -Dean's list x2 semesters
-1-2 letter of recommendation- Thinking if I should include two recommendations: One from ENGL and one from MATH
    - I will be transferring over to another community college in Georgia because the courses for spring 2019 at my community college does have what I need to transfer over to top schools.

    EC's:
-Planning to start (President of Finance Club)
-Planning to get into the Tennis and Badminton Team
    -FBLA Treasurer HS
    - HS: Clubs: Investment Club, FBLA, and TSA.
-Won about 4 FBLA events(One Nationals, Two State level, and Two Regional.)
    -Volunteer & Fundraising/Charity
-Many EDX courses on Economics to Finance courses. Took many as I can. Here are three I took (Calculus Applied from Harvard University, Marketing Measurement Strategy from the University of Michigan, and Financial Decision Making from the University of Marland. I didn't get a certification for any course but I can show a screenshot or provide account details to see that I have completed the courses.

    Essay: Very Strong

Not providing ACT/SAT scores but if required I will send my High School Transcript.

I am also applying to Georgia Tech, Vandy, Cornell, and the University of Chicago. If anyone can chance me there also it would be great. That's it. I hope we all get into the programs we desire! Also, I didn't see the Business school in Common App, if anyone can help with that would be great. If I have an answer I will comment back. Thanks, Alex.

@Party101 OH MY :D found you again! UMICH is on my list as well! If you read their test requirements they say you they do not want to a college student re-taking on the LSA's site I believe! So good news there.

What school are you applying to in Michigan though?
CS you can do it through LSA and CoE. LSA is much easier to get into compared to CoE.

In regards to the business school... the only transfer option I have seen available for ROSS is a separate application you have to fill out. Not connected to the Common App but on their website. Also, I think a BBA is the only possible thing to do. Additionally, I know some people like to do the BBA as a dual major and combining it with CS can be really a time sink to pull off. Do-able just hard. If you go through CoE then it's even harder as much as I know.

And just wanted to say, if you're doing CS and like finance then you're golden if you get into Michigan. Some amazing firms like point72/ citadel iirc recruit from there :D

Yeah, I called UMICH today, and they said not to retake the testing requirements. I am just not even going to send them anyway and just send my college work and HS work. I was thinking of applying the Ross School of Business School, but It is just way to hard to get in. I will be doing computer Science through LSA. CoE has more requirements which I won't be able to get by the end of the year. The dual major sounds better interesting. I might consider it, but my first priority is to get into LSA Computer Science. Do you think I got a good shot at it? @Snekfest . Keeping posting STATS. @pushingtopull

@Party101 honestly will depend on your HS GPA as well. I actually was going to do LSA CS too. If you will have less than 60 credits completed before transferring they will weight your HS GPA into consideration. So if you're HS GPA was solid then I would be more optimistic. That being said, Michigan is tough as I'm sure you already know so I cannot really say. There have been people who transferred without ~60 credits but from talking to friends who attend UMICH and information sessions I've been too, your HS will be taken into consideration is all I could say.

    Cheers

Hi, I just found this and I am so glad I can connect with people like you all about this. I currently attended the other B1G school in the state of Michigan and I can’t wait to (hopefully) get the hell out. I’m debating on whether or not I should wait and apply for winter 2020 or try for the fall. I’m going to include my stats, any advice really does help! :)

    School: Michigan State University
Major: Premedical (I’m thinking of changing to biology, not entirely sure yet.)
-College GPA: Should be around a 3.5 by the end the of this semester. By the end of year should be a 3.75.
    High school GPA +SAT score:
unweighted-3.65 (Due to a few c+’a as b’s during my sophomore year when my mother almost passed away.) weighted- 3.9/ SAT- 1170
-Credits: 8 as of now from the APs, at semester will be 19. Will have 33 by the end of the year. Possibly 40 at the time of acceptance due enrolling in summer courses.
    EC's-
    HS:
-Cheerleading, plus the postion of Captain
    -Chamber Choir
    -NHS
    -Student Council
-Volunteer at a local nursing home
    -Positive Peer Influence Mentor
    -Diversity Alliance Member
    College:
    - Volunteer at Sparrow Hospital
    - Volunteer at the Child Development Lab
    - Memebr of the West Circle Pride (LGBTQ+/allies)
    Work Experience:
-Hostess at a local restaurant back home for 2 years

@Party101 I think you have a great chance at being accepted. I got into Umich with a 3.7GPA, and my ACT score was terrible. So long as the essays are well-written and address the questions with a creative twist, then you should be good.

Also as previously commented, HS will impact acceptance a little bit if you have less than 60 credits. My HS GPA was 3.0, but I had 60+ credits before transferring.

I think you have a fair chance considering everything else in the list. If you don't get in this term, then I'd suggest waiting until you are at Junior status (60 credits).

    - Current School: Wayne State
    - Major: Computer Science (would be applying to LSA)
    - Year/Credits: Would have 60+ transferable credits at time of enrollment
    - GPA: 3.65

    - Extracurriculars:
    * School film club
    * Community service in my hometown (a good amount of commitment through several means, also won a scholarship from my village for community service)
    * A few different jobs: Auditorium technician for my hometown school district (big leadership role), working as a cook for a restaurant, delivery driver (all of these were huge time commitments, especially as of recent as I've been working 30-40+ hours a week)

    - Misc:
    * Doubt it means anything for legacy but my grandfather taught at the med school
    * I'm going to put a very solid effort into writing meaningful essays, I think most people would agree I'm a good writer and I have a lot of unique experiences (had a lot happen in high school that prevented me from being a normal student)

I know GPA weighs super heavy into admission and it's the part of my app I'm most worried about. I've been staying awake at night for the past few weeks beating myself up about this past semester which happened to be my worst yet (ended up with two B's in classes that I had A's in before the final). I thought writing this all out might make me feel a little better. Do you guys think I can overcome my less-than-stellar GPA?

@90smix A GPA of 3.9 is stellar. Your experience correlates to what you want to do as well. How many credits are you applying with?

Hi! I'm currently a freshman applying from the University of Pittsburgh. I would have completed 38 credits by the end of this year, and here are my stats:

    College GPA: 3.942
    SAT: 1300
    High School GPA: 91% or a 3.7
I took 5 APs and almost every honors class in my school.
    Majors: Environment and/or Sociology
Jobs: currently have 3 as a summer camp counselor, research assistant, and Jumpstart corps member (preschool teacher)
Activities: many leadership positions, and I edit the campus sociology journal

I just applied and am really nervous! Could anyone tell me what my chances would be? Thank you so much!

@kbot9929 You have a 3.9. What are you worried about?

I'm worried, because I've heard that it is super hard to transfer as a sophomore, and they mainly only accept junior transfers.
